On Geek Confidential’s Fall TV and Hate Watching Fear the Walking Dead podcast I read Variety’s ringing endorsement of NBC’s new time travel series Timeless. The Timeless review was so effusive I forced myself not to set my expectations too high. NBC has a spotty track record developing geeky shows and, all to often, time travel series get so complicated viewers end up with headaches.
That didn’t stop me from watching Timeless first thing Monday night. Timeless follows Suits alum Abigail Spencer as Lucy Preston, 90210 grad Matt Lanter as Wyatt Logan and Better of Ted’s Malcolm Barrett as Rufus Carlin as they rush back through time to the Hindenburg disaster to prevent Goran Visnjic’s Garcia Flynn from changing the course of history.
I thoroughly enjoyed the Timeless pilot. There were fun twists and turns and by the end of the episode it had set up several mysteries to carry it through the rest of the season.
I would encourage anyone looking for a fun adventure series to give it a try. According to Deadline, it got off to a decent start in the ratings with a 1.9 in 18-49. Reportedly, it also edged “the second hour of the Scorpion season premiere on CBS (1.9 vs. 1.7) and dominated ABC’s lackluster Conviction debut.”
What where your First Impressions of NBC’s Timeless pilot? Did you love it? Did you hate it? Or are you giving it more time?
