No. 8: Star Trek Beyond
Third into the franchise remake, Star Trek Beyond is a pale number three in the triad. It is still one of the best of the year, helped by the dismal lineup of films for 2016. The familiar crew is back, but not enough. The villain is a little plastic, literally, with a face mask too bland and hiding the talents of Idris Elba. Last, the writing and direction are just a little too TV-ish for a great movie.
