Black Panther ruled the 2018 Presidents’ Day Weekend Box Office. The film’s triumph, in addition to Black Lightning’s success on television, prove there is an appetite for media adaptations of black comic book heroes and heroines. Though T’Challa (Chadwick Boseman) was able to defeat Erik Killmonger (Michael B. Jordan) onscreen, is the King of Wakanda’s vibranium suit and powers enough to conquer Geek Confidential’s list of Top 20 Black Comic Book Superheroes?

No. 20: Moon Girl (Lunella Lafayette) – Marvel Comics

Lunella Lafayette, one of the smartest individuals in the Marvel Universe, first appeared in Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur #1 (2016). She discovered her latent Inhuman gene in grade school but was feared her heritage. After Lunella underwent terragenesis, she gained the ability to swap bodies with a dinosaur from an alternate reality called Devil Dinosaur. Once fearful of her Inhuman birthright, Lunella has become a member of their community. Moon Girl is part of the Inhumans vs X-Men crossover in addition to her own title. She will join Secret Warriors, a team of Inhumans based on Earth, in the spring of 2017.  

First Appearance: Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur #1 (2016)

Powers: Inhuman ability to swap bodies with a creature called Devil Dinosaur.
