No. 10: Spider-Man (Miles Morales) – Marvel Comics

Marvel created a new Spider-Man during the waning years the company’s alternate comic line the Ultimate Universe. Miles Morales made his debut in Ultimate Fallout #4 (2011), following the death of the that universe’s Peter Parker. Though Miles and Peter share a similar origin story, the circumstances are vastly different. Miles was bitten by genetically altered spider that was stolen by his Uncle Aaron Davis (The Prowler). Miles Morales’ Spider-Man and Peter Parker’s Spider-Man share many of the same abilities, but Miles received two additional skills. He can camouflage himself and project a Taser-like blast called ‘venom blasts’.

Miles’ solo adventures in the Ultimate Universe are chronicled in two series Ultimate Comics: Spider-Man (2011) and Miles Morales: The Ultimate Spider-Man (2014). He first teamed-up with the regular continuity version of Peter Parker in Spider-Men (2012). At the conclusion of Miles Morales: The Ultimate Spider-Man the character gets entangled in a Marvel line wide event called Secret Wars (2015). Once Secret Wars ends, Miles and most of his supporting cast members are integrated into Marvel’s regular continuity. Miles currently has a solo title, Spider-Man (2016), and appears in Champions (2016). The character has appeared in video games and on the Ultimate Spider-Man cartoon shown on Disney XD using the name Kid Arachnid. Miles Morales will star in an animated film that will be released by Sony in 2018.

First Appearance: Ultimate Fallout #4 (2011)

Powers: Enhanced speed, strength, agility and the ability to stick to surfaces. Miles also has a spider-sense like Peter Parker along with two additional powers (camouflage and venom blasts).
