Greta Thunberg’s speech at the United Nations Climate Summit, where she called out world leaders for failing on climate change, inspired Monday as she spoke truth to power.
“I shouldn’t be standing here. I should be back in school on the other side of the ocean. Yet you all come to me for hope? How dare you! You have stolen my dreams and my childhood with your empty words.”
“People are suffering. People are dying. Entire ecosystems are collapsing. We are in the beginning of a mass extinction. And all you can talk about is money and fairy tales of eternal economic growth. How dare you!”
WHOA! Greta Thunberg Delivers Perfect Shade of Trump on Twitter
“You are failing us. But the young people are starting to understand your betrayal. The eyes of all future generations are upon you. And if you choose to fail us, I say we will never forgive you.”
Never one to pass up an opportunity to punch down, President Trump mocked the climate activist on Twitter with a condescending tweet.
She seems like a very happy young girl looking forward to a bright and wonderful future. So nice to see! https://t.co/1tQG6QcVKO— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) September 24, 2019
While Trump may dish out Twitter’s biggest bluster, Thunberg proved she serves up even better shade.
The Swedish activist tweaked her Twitter bio ever so slightly on Tuesday, in what some might consider The Art of Shade.
And the child shall lead them.
