In September it was revealed that The CW is developing an Arrow spinoff featuring an all-female led cast.
Now it could be adding to its lineup of shows featuring female leads–Supergirl, Batwoman, The 100, Charmed, Legacies and Nancy Drew–with a reboot pilot of the 1970s series Kung Fu.
According to TV Line,
“This new take follows a young Chinese-American woman who drops out of college and go on a life-changing journey to an isolated monastery in China. But when she returns to find her hometown overrun with crime and corruption, she uses her martial arts skills and Shaolin values to protect her community and bring criminals to justice — all while searching for the assassin who killed her Shaolin mentor and is now targeting her.”
The CW appears to be following in the path of CBS, which seems to reboot at least one classic TV series each pilot season. In recent years The CW has rebooted Dynasty and Charmed while using The WB’s cult favorite, Roswell, as a model for Roswell, New Mexico.
