HBO Max is really starting to load up on original content. The new streaming service has green lit an animated Aquaman miniseries called Aquaman: King of Atlantis per The Hollywood Reporter. Horror director James Wan and Warner Bros. Animation are set to produce the project.

The three-part miniseries will follow Arthur Curry as he begins his reign of Atlantis as Aquaman. He will face the trials and tribulations of being a first time ruler including jealousy from his half-brother and the threat of humans causing trouble for the underwater kingdom.

Naturally, Aquaman will have help from fellow royal Mera, and trusted scientist Dr. Vulko during his first few days as king of Atlantis.

Producer James Wan also directed 2018’s live action Aquaman and has a spinoff in the works.
