No, you’re eyes aren’t playing tricks on you. Yes, that is $11.1 Billion, with a B, dollars. Variety reports Disney has set a record at the box office for 2019! The Mouse House had several blockbusters last year including Avengers: Endgame, The Lion King (2019), Frozen II, Toy Story 4, and Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker.

Disney’s domination at the box office closes out an interesting decade for the conglomerate. At the beginning of 2010, the studio was near the bottom of the list at the box office for both domestic and international sales. Flash forward 10 years, and Disney accounted for 33% of all domestic box office income for 2019.

Disney’s acquisition of Marvel Entertainment in late 2009, Lucasfilm in 2012 and 20th Century Fox in 2019 surely contributed to their success!

Don’t expect the train to stop for Mickey and Friends any time soon. With phase 4 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe coming in the new decade, at least 20 new Fox films, and the studio’s elusive vault, the Disney box office hustle is just hitting it’s stride.
