Freeform Conjures Up Motherland: Fort Salem Trailer and Premiere Date

Freeform’s new military witch series, Motherland: Fort Salem , has a premiere date and trailer!

Freeform is giving us our first taste of the series, set in an alternate reality, where witches sought to end their oppression by agreeing to service the United States government 300 years ago.

Motherland: Fort Salem follows a quartet of young female recruits as they endure military training, while carrying the burden of their supernatural lineage.

Portraying the four recruits are Taylor Hickson (Deadly Class), Jessica Sutton (Escape Room), Ashley Nicole Williams, and Amalia Holm (Playground). Demetria McKinney (Tyler Perry’s The Paynes) and Lyne Renée (Mercy Street) also star as ranking military officers.

Eliot Lawrence (TNT’s Claws) created Motherland: Fort Salem and is an executive producer. Other executive producers include Will Ferrell and Adam McKay from HBO’s Succession.

Based on the trailer, the show appears to be tackling contemporary issues including domestic terror and gender roles. With so many supernatural shows set at academic institutions, it was only a matter of time before a magical military drama emerged.

Motherland: Fort Salem premieres on Wednesday, March 18 at 9 PM EST.
