Netflix Uploads New Ghost in the Shell Trailer

Netflix is prepping fans of the classic cyberpunk franchise for its return with the release of a full trailer. Ghost in the Shell: SAC_2045 has been in the works since 2018, when Netflix acquired its rights. The series is slated to be released worldwide in April 2020. It joins Netflix’s growing number of original net animation (ONA).

Ghost in the Shell: SAC_2045 is co-directed by Kenji Kamiyama and Shinji Aramaki. The pair also co-directed Netflix’s Ultraman and Adult Swim’s upcoming Blade Runner: Black Lotus series. Kenji Kamiyama has been involved with the Ghost in the Shell franchise for nearly 20 years. He directed both seasons of the Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex television show, and the follow-up movie Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex – Solid State Society.

In addition to the trailer, Netflix Asia’s Youtube channel also provides a description of the series.

In the year 2045, the world has entered a systematic “Sustainable War.” Hired as a mercenary unit, the former members of Japan’s elite Section 9 are faced with the sudden appearance of “Post-Human,” a being with tremendous intelligence and physical capabilities.
