Autobots, Roll Out! Get ready to see much more Optimus Prime, Bumblebee and Megatron coming to a theater near you. Paramount Pictures in partnership with Hasbro has given the green light to two more Transformers movies per Variety.
The studio has hired two writers to tackle the new screenplays. James Vanderbilt will handle one and Joby Harold will pen the other. Vanderbilt is best known for co-writing The Amazing Spiderman movies and Harold had a hand in the John Wick sequels. No word on story or possible directors was available at this time.
This will mark the seventh and eighth Transformers movies from Paramount. It all began with 2007’s Transformers by action director Michael Bay. The studio trusted Bay with four more Transformers movies, before deciding to move in a new direction in 2017 due to declining ticket sales. The latest Transformers inspired film was 2018’s Bumblebee. While the film earned acclaim from critics and fans alike, it was the least profitable film in the franchise.
Only time will tell if the robots in disguise will be able to strike gold at the box office again!
