Okay, Nerds! Do not adjust your eyes! Sam Raimi is currently in negotiations to direct Marvel’s Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, per Variety!
The word around Marvel Studios is that Raimi will take over for ousted director Scott Derrickson. There is a strong possibility that Derrickson will remain attached to the project as an Executive Producer.
Sam Raimi is no stranger to the superhero world! He directed the first Spider-Man trilogy, starring Tobey Maguire, in the early 2000s to critical and fan acclaim. Raimi receives high marks to this day for 2004s Spider-Man 2. He would be the first true blockbuster director Marvel has brought in to sit in the director’s chair.
Benedict Cumberbatch is still set to reprise his role as Doctor Strange. He will be joined by Chiwetel Ejiofor and Benedict Wong as Karl Mordo and Wong. However, Rachel McAdams will not return as Dr. Christine Palmer.
