Disney Plus Soars to 28.6 Million Subscribers

Disney CEO Bob Iger broke down the numbers on Disney Plus for the whole world. Per The Hollywood Reporter, the nearly three month old streaming service has netted 28.6 Million subscribers!

On launch day, 10 million people signed up for Disney Plus. Those are impressive numbers for a fairly new streaming service. What’s even more impressive is that the service is only available in United States, Australia, New Zealand, the Netherlands,Canada, and Puerto Rico. Image the numbers if it were to go live in every country!

Naturally, the extensive Disney Vault, Star Wars, Marvel movies and new series’ such as The Mandalorian contributed to this success. The top dog of streamers are still Netflix with 167 million subscribers worldwide, and Hulu is trailing behind at 30.7 million U.S. subscribers.

Only time will tell if Disney Plus can catch up to Netflix.
