Pretty Little Liars alum Lucy Hale stars as the Katy Keene, an aspiring fashion designer in New York City who works at Lacy’s by day and designs clothes by night.
She is joined by Riverdale’s Josie McCoy (Ashleigh Murray) who arrives in the Big Apple from Riverdale to pursue her singing career. They share a room with Jorge (Jonny Beauchamp) whose drag persona is Ginger Lopez. The inevitable best friend quartet is rounded out by Pepper Smith (Julila Chan), whose eclectic personality is sure to provide more than a few intriguing moments throughout the season.
Katy Keen’s hunk factor is served up on a silver platter with Katy’s boyfriend K.O. Kelly (Zane Holtz) and Josie’s love interest Alexander Cabot (Lucien Laviscount).
Throughout the pilot Katy is competing for a promotion at Lacy’s while Josie’s chance at a quick singing career is snuffed out by Alexander’s sister Alexandra Cabot (Camille Hyde). Jorge auditions for a Broadway musical not once, but twice. The first time as himself and he’s rejected for not being butch enough. The second time he auditions it’s as Ginger Lopez and he is rejected this time as well.
Katy’s career path in the department where she works takes a sharp turn, but in the end she triumphs.
The episode ends with surprise Katy wasn’t expecting, but we won’t spoil that for you. You’ll have to watch Katy Keene to see what it is for yourself!
