The Angry Birds franchise continues to grow. Netflix announced a new animated series Angry Birds: Summer Madness will debut in Summer 2021 per The Hollywood Reporter.

The series will be 40 episodes and clock in at about 11 minutes each. In this version, the birds will be tweens at summer camp with an unsteady counselor. Angry Birds is based on the mobile game app of the same name.

CAKE is producing the project along with Netflix. CAKE is currently in a long term deal with Angry Birds’ creator Rovio. Rovio CEO Ville Heijari has high hopes for the series. He decreed “After more than a decade in hit games, blockbuster movies and licensed products, this is the Angry Birds’ first foray into a longform series. We’re delighted to continue our partnership with CAKE and can’t wait to unveil the world of Angry Birds: Summer Madness to viewers on Netflix.”
