Disney No Longer Reporting Box Office Numbers

Disney is making a change to how they measure success. The Mouse House is suspending reporting all box office gains and losses per Deadline.

Even though Disney/Pixar’s Onward has been number 1 for the past 2 weeks, the studio sees the writing on the wall with all the theater closings. 96% of North American theaters are temporarily closed with no reopening in sight.

Since Disney owns 20th Century Fox, Searchlight Pictures, and Marvel Studios, it is almost impossible to calculate domestic and international box office earnings without their numbers in the mix.

There are no major box office releases still on the books until Warner Bros. Wonder Woman, and even that may be up in the air. Don’t count on any lists in the near future.
