Max von Sydow, most recently remembered by Game of Thrones fans as the Three-Eyed Raven, has passed away at the age of 90.
The Swedish actor of both the big and small screens, von Sydow has appeared in everything from The Diary of Anne Frank to The Tudors on TV and from Flash Gordon to Minority Report on the silver screen.
He earned two Oscar nominations for 2012’s Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close and 1988’s Pelle the Conqueror.
Hot Fuzz and Shaun of the Dead writer/director Edgar Wright paid tribute to von Sydow on Twitter.
Max Von Sydow, such an iconic presence in cinema for seven decades, it seemed like he'd always be with us. He changed the face of international film with Bergman, played Christ, fought the devil, pressed the HOT HAIL button & was Oscar nominated for a silent performance. A god. pic.twitter.com/klhJ9RusdQ
