
A popular 80’s video game is about to get the live action film treatment. Ryan Reynolds is in negotiations to produce and star in Dragon’s Lair per The Hollywood Reporter.
Netflix has finally gained the rights to the video game and will be the vehicle behind the live action adaptation. Reynolds will produce under his own company Maximum Effort. Co-producers of the project include Roy Lee of Vertigo Entertainment, Trevor Engelson of Underground films, Don Bluth, Gary Goldman, and Jon Pomeroy. The original video game debut in 1983.
The game tells the story of knight Dirk the Daring. He must rescue Princess Daphne from the wizard Mordroc and the evil dragon Singe.
Dan and Kevin Hageman will pen the script. The duo were responsible for The Lego Movie and Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark.
No word on when the film will begin production, but look for it to premiere on Netflix!
