The Syfy channel will be a little less magical after April 1.

According to TV Insider, The Magicians will end its run after five seasons with a season finale that was also written to be a series finale if necessary.

In a statement to TV Insider, the sci-fi and fantasy centric cable channel bid the show farewell.

“The Magicians has been a part of our Syfy family for five fantastic seasons. As we near the end of this journey, we want to thank John McNamara, Sera Gamble, Henry Alonso Myers, Lev Grossman, and our entire brilliant cast, crew, writers and directors for their beautiful creation. But most of all, we thank the fans for their tremendous support and passion. Because of you, magic will be in our hearts forever.”

The Magicians is based on a new adult fantasy novel by Lev Grossman.

The Magicians has routinely been a favorite for myself and Mo Walker on the Geek Confidential podcast with actors, characters and storylines from the show being chosen for Best & Worst of the TV season and Year End podcasts.
