Get ready to feel the need for speed a little earlier this summer. Paramount has pushed up the release date for Top Gun: Maverick, per Deadline.
The sequel to 1986’s Top Gun is set to hit theaters 2 days prior to it’s previously announced release date! Wednesday, June 24 is the first day Maverick (Tom Cruise), Iceman (Val Kilmer) and company will enter the new millennium. The Wednesday release is pretty run off the mill for a Paramount Pictures summer blockbuster.
The change in date is likely due to the movie market being packed right before Independence Day. The film is sure to have nostalgia on it’s side.
Tron Legacy director Joseph Kosinski is taking on the same role in the second Top Gun.
Are you more likely to check out Top Gun: Maverick now that it’s coming to theaters earlier?
