A reboot of a 1980’s classic horror film just found two writers and a director. David Bruckner will direct, while Ben Collins and Luke Piotrowski will pen the screenplay to the new Hellraiser, per The Hollywood Reporter!
Bruckner, Collins and Piotrowski all held the same roles in the 2020 Sundance smash The Night House. David Goyer, also an Night House alumni, is writing the story and producing under his Phantom Four company with Keith Levine.
The original Hellraiser is an adaption of novella The Hellbound Heart by Clive Baker. Baker also wrote and directed the film. The film was a window to an alternate dimension full of puzzles and a world of Cenobites. The lead Cenobite, Pinhead, was quite fond of torture. The 1987 film spawned 9 sequels!
Spyglass Media is the driving force behind the new Hellraiser. No details of the plot have been revealed yet, but it is said to be “loyal, yet evolved.”
