A sequel to a relatively new horror film is in the works. Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark is officially getting a second film, per The Hollywood Reporter.
2019’s Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark performed very well at the box office bowing at $105 million. André Øvredal will once again occupy the director’s chair for the sequel. Also, writers Dan Hageman and Kevin Hageman will return to pen the script.
The original film is based on several short stories by Alvin Schwartz. There were 3 books of short stories, with each having about 25 to 39 a piece. Only a few stories were adapted in the first movie, so the source material is plentiful. No word on the official title or casting is currently available.
Paramount Pictures will co-produce the second Scary Stories with Entertainment One.
