A popular Broadway actor is heading to the big screen again! Josh Gad is the first person cast in Roland Emmerich’s new space centric disaster film Moonfall, per The Hollywood Reporter.
Moonfall is the story of the Earth in peril. The moon is on a crash course with Earth after being knocked off its axis by a mysterious force. There are mere weeks before impact and things are bleak. A motley crew is quickly thrown together to land on the moon and save the world.
Gad will portray KC Houseman. He’s the resident odd, slightly messy genius, who discovers the moon’s orbit is out of sync. Since he is the person who finds the disaster in the making, he occupies a very important role in the film.
The director Emmerich is known for his big sci-fi features such as Independence Day, Godzilla (1998) and Stargate. Gad recent films include A Dog’s Journey, Frozen II, and the upcoming Artemis Fowl. Production on Moonfall is set to begin in the fall.
