A Netflix fantasy action thriller is coming back with a new director. Louis Leterrier is currently in talks to direct Bright 2, per Deadline!

Leterrier is a veteran of the action world. He previously directed Now You See Me, and The Transporter. He also has experience with fantasy, helming Clash of the Titans and The Incredible Hulk. The original film’s director David Ayer had to drop out of the project.

2017’s Bright starring Will Smith and Joel Edgerton set a Netflix record when 60 million people watched the film during the first week. Smith and Edgerton will return for the sequel. It was critically panned, but fans were more receptive to the film.

Bright follows the story of LAPD police officer Daryl Ward (Will Smith) and his orc partner Nick Jakoby (Joel Edgerton). In this reality, humans and mythical creatures co-exist. The duo search for a powerful wand in order to protect it from falling into the wrong hands. They must battle creatures, racism, and each other along the way. Production will begin on the sequel as soon as safely possible.
