Taika Waititi to Direct and Write New Star Wars Film

Happy Star Wars Day! Multi-Hyphenate Taika Waititi will direct and write a brand new Star Wars film, per Lucasfilm!

Disney plans to give the film a huge theatrical release. Krysty Wilson-Cairns will co-write the project with Waititi. Cairns most recent script was the Academy Award Nominated war film 1917.

Waititi is a busy man. He will write and direct Thor: Love and Thunder, and has a new animated Flash Gordon film in the works. The actor/director also won his first Oscar this year for Jojo Rabbit.

No word on the cast or a release date is available at this time. Nevertheless, Star Wars is in good hands with Waititi.
