The Flash has taken a lighting bolt to Hartley Sawyer’s contract.
Sawyer was fired after a slew of racist and misogynistic tweets were dug up on Twitter and circulated by upset fans.
In a statement to The Hollywood Reporter, Warner Bros. Television and Berlanti Productions said,
“Hartley Sawyer will not be returning for Season 7 of ‘The Flash.’ In regards to Mr. Sawyer’s posts on social media, we do not tolerate derogatory remarks that target any race, ethnicity, national origin, gender, or sexual orientation. Such remarks are antithetical to our values and polices, which strive and evolve to promote a safe, inclusive and productive environment for our workforce.”
Sawyer’s Twitter account has since been deleted, but the actor released a statement on Instagram.
Sawyer is best known for his portrayal of Ralph Dibny aka Elongated Man on The Flash, but has previously starred on The Young and the Restless and Miss 2059.
