La La La La La La, Sing A Happy Song! A brand new animated series featuring The Smurfs will air on Nickelodeon, per Deadline.
The Smurfs legacy goes all the way back to the comics in 1958. The little blue creatures hit icon status in the 1981 when Hanna-Barbera created an animated series. Since then, year after year, The Smurfs always find a way to enter their way into children’s hearts.
The new deal with Nickelodeon comes with an CG-animated series full of “all-new adventures packed with humor, heart and high-stakes action.” All the classic characters including Papa Smurf, Smurfette, Brainy, Hefty, and Clumsy will return for the new era.
Nickelodeon now owns a license for the global rights of The Smurfs. The network also plans to create new consumer products for The Smurfs. Look for new toys, stationery, apparel and accessories, home, consumer packaged goods and more for a retail launch in 2022. The plan is to reach U.S., Canada, Mexico, the United Kingdom, Singapore and Malaysia.
The new series will debut in 2021 in the U.S.!
