Animation is still up and running during the Coronavirus pandemic. Production is officially under way for the sequel to 2018’s Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, per lead animator Nick Kondo.

Kondo tweeted out a short video of a color changing Spider-Verse logo with 2022 written inside. The caption reads “First day on the job!”. It looks like this film is one of the first to begin production in the pandemic era.

In May, Sony Pictures revealed the sequel has been delayed until October 7, 2022. This puts 5 years between the original film and the sequel. The original film won an Academy Award for Best Animated Film.

The plot of the sequel is currently being kept under lock and key. Shameik Moore, the voice of Miles Morales, is set to return.
