The next popular video game to television adaptation may be headed for Amazon. A new television series based on Fallout is in the works at Amazon Prime video, per Variety.
Westworld‘s Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy are currently cultivating a Fallout series. The duo’s Kilter Films production company will be the main vehicle behind the project. The series also includes a commitment penalty, which means it would go directly to series if Amazon picks up the script.
The original 1997 role playing video game Fallout is set in a post-apocalyptic America in the year 2161. The country is still struggling from the nuclear war of 2077. The game shows heavy influence from 1950’s American culture.
Nolan and Joy express their optimism for the series. Jointly, they state “Fallout’ is one of the greatest game series of all time. Each chapter of this insanely imaginative story has cost us countless hours we could have spent with family and friends. So we’re incredibly excited to partner with Todd Howard and the rest of the brilliant lunatics at Bethesda to bring this massive, subversive, and darkly funny universe to life with Amazon Studios.”
The series is part of Nolan and Joy’s overall deal with Amazon.
