Kelly Marie Tran Cast in Hulu’s Monsterland

A Star Wars alum’s next project is a new world of fantasy. Kelly Marie Tran joins Hulu’s Monsterland series, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The new anthology series will feature several different mythical gothic creatures such as mermaids and fallen angels. Most mortals are broken and willing to do just about anything to fix their lives. Tran will portray Lauren in the episode titled “Iron River, MI. After her best friend, Elena, went missing when they were 16, she built a better life for herself. The character returns to her small Michigan hometown for her wedding.

Tran is the latest addition to the cast along with Kaitlyn Dever, Taylor Schilling and Mike Colter. The series is based on the collection of stories from Nathan Ballingrud. Mary Laws serves as creator, head writer and executive producer. Babak Anvari, Lucan Toh, Megan Ellison, and Sue Naegle will co-executive produce the series.
