It looks like several future Hollywood blockbusters may be ready to roll again! Mission: Impossible 7, The Batman, Fantastic Beasts 3, Disney’s live action The Little Mermaid and Cinderella will begin production soon in the U.K., per The Wrap.
The Coronavirus pandemic put a screeching to stop to production in the entertainment industry in March. With things starting to open up again, Paramount Pictures, Warner Bros. and Disney have all been granted special exemptions to begin filming in the U.K.
Interestingly, the exemption conditions are pretty stringent. Films can only shoot footage in England, and crew members will be placed in a “bubble” environment. Furthermore, the threat of COVID-10 will require all cast and crew to live very close to the production, and not venture about into the community.
Culture Secretary Oliver Dowden gives a few words on film production making a return. He states “The world’s biggest blockbusters and high-end TV shows are made in Britain. Our creativity, expertise and highly successful tax reliefs for our screen industries means that we are an in-demand location that in turn delivers a great return for our economy. We want the industry to bounce back and exempting small numbers of essential cast and crew from quarantine is part of our continued commitment to getting cameras rolling safely again.”
