The Batman Film Gets Spinoff Series at HBO Max

Get ready for more Batman across multiple platforms! A new spinoff series in the same universe as the upcoming The Batman film is currently set for HBO Max, per Variety.

The series will focus on the Gotham City Police Department and all the shenanigans that ensue in the city. The film’s director Matt Reeves will also serve as executive producer for the new show. Boardwalk Empire’s Terence Winter will pen the series and co-executive produce with Reeves.

Reeves expresses his excitement for the new series. He states “This is an amazing opportunity, not only to expand the vision of the world I am creating in the film, but to explore it in the kind of depth and detail that only a longform format can afford.“

The Batman is still eyeing a October 2021 release. The film stars Robert Pattinson, Zoe Kravitz, Paul Dano, Andy Serkis, and Jeffrey Wright. The series will debut sometime after the film.
