Watch Amazon’s Utopia Trailer

A new comic book-centric conspiracy series is coming to Amazon Prime video! The first official trailer for Utopia hit the Internet today!

Utopia is an adaptation of the a 2013 British series of the same name. Gone Girl author Gillian Flynn serves as show creator and writer. This is her first television series where the source material is not her own.

The series focuses on a group of Utopia comic fans who join the online fandom to connect over their favorite “fictional” source of entertainment. The comic is the story of a rogue scientist unleashing biological warfare on the Earth. Friends Wilson Wilson (Desmin Borges), Samantha (Jessica Rothe), Ian (Dan Byrd), Grant (Javon “Wanna” Walton), and Becky (Ashleigh LaThrop) soon discover hidden meanings within the pages of Utopia. The horrors of the comics hold more truth than fiction.

The trailer begins with Dr. Kevin Christie (John Cusak) questioning students on what they have done earn their place in the crowd. We cut to the first glimpse of main character Jessica Hyde (Sasha Lane), who appears to be snooping around some where. Then, flash to the pages of the comic book intercut with real news stories of melting glaciers and wild fires. While shots of several characters dance across the screen (including Rainn Wilson as Dr. Michael Stearns), a voice is head saying “You have no idea what the end of the world’s going to bring“. As things continue, it’s evident the world is falling apart.

No word on when the series will debut on Amazon Prime Video, but expect an update soon. Check out the full first trailer below!
