Don’t call it a comeback! Variety reports the DC FanDome virtual comic-con live event hauled in 22 Million views!
This is absolutely a win for both WarnerMedia and the DC Universe. The sheer number of views over a 24 hour period across 220 countries is quite impressive. Lisa Gregorian, Warner Bros. TV group president and chief marketing officer, expresses the studio’s core thought process for FanDome. “We really wanted to put together an event that would super-serve the fans.”

The event featured content from television, film, comics, books, still art, fan-fiction, et-cetera. It was truly a celebration of all platforms. The idea originally came about due to COVID-19 according to Blair Rich, president of worldwide marketing for Warner Bros. Pictures Group.

Rich states “You could already feel this sort of detachment and the loneliness of COVID, and we thought this could bring fans together. We wanted it to feel as much as possible as a physical destination and gathering place for fans to celebrate and discover.“
Are there more virtual comic-con events like DC FanDome planned for the future? It’s not outside the realm of possibility. Don’t think the physical cons are gone either. Gregorian confirms “There’s a place for both.“
