A cult classic film is finally getting new life. Deadline reports Garth Davis will direct the long awaited Tron 3!
Davis is most known for the Academy Award nominated film Lion. This will be his first big budget film. Word on the street is Davis really campaigned to helm the film and eventually won over the big wigs at Disney. Jesse Wigutow penned the script.
Jared Leto will star in the follow up to 2010’s Tron: Legacy. The actor has been attached to the project since 2017. It’s pretty much been in development hell for three years. However, things are finally starting to progress with the film.
1982’s Tron starring Jeff Bridges severely under performed at the box office. The story about a software engineer who becomes stuck inside a computer program and must battle his way out of The Grid didn’t quite grip fans at the time. Over the years, it became a hit and garnered a sequel in 2010 with Bridges returning to the title role.
Leto took to Twitter to confirm his involvement with the project, and give a few words on the recent developments!
