An 1980’s classic television series about a highly intelligent sturdy car is getting the big screen treatment. Knight Rider will become a feature film, according to Variety.

Knight Rider the series starred David Hasselhoff as Detective Michael Knight and his crime fighting car KITT, voiced by William Daniels. Let’s be honest, the car is the real star of the show. The sleek all black Pontiac Firebird Trans AM did it all. There was a short lived “one and done” reboot of the same name in 2008 starring All My Children grad Justin Bruening.

Multi-genre director James Wan is producing the new film. Spyglass Media Group is the engine behind the project. TJ Fixman will pen the screenplay, while Judson Scott serve as Executive Producer.

No word on when the film is set to debut, but it may be a while. Wan is currently busy with producing Mortal Kombat, The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It, and directing Aquaman 2!
