“True monsters are born, not made.” The first trailer for Netflix’s Ratched, starring Sarah Paulson, officially dropped today!
In the series, Paulson portrays Nurse Mildred Ratchet! The classic twisted character is from the famous Ken Kensey novel One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest. The new series is a pre-quel to the novel. Ryan Murphy serves as Executive Producer, and Evan Romansky is the series creator. The series will debut on September 18!
The trailer begins with a glimpse of the hospital. It’s clear the story is set in 1947 by everyone’s attire. A gas attendant asks Nurse Ratched why she’s heading to Lucia. The nurse keeps a stone face, and shuts down the attendant without raising her voice.
Next, the scene flashes to Ratched’s hard times in the army as a nurse, and then in the present at the hospital. A patient in pain is given a shot which knocks him out fast. The good Nurse says “He’s been through enough, pain.”
The trailer soon descends into madness through a red filter. Flashes of torture, blood, sex, and talks of mercy bellow through the speakers. Nurse Ratched also warns a fellow nurse who eats her peach she will exact her revenge. The last shot is of Nurse Ratched driving a nail with a hammer into the camera.
The series also stars Cynthia Nixon, Sharon Stone, Judy Davis, Jon Jon Briones, Finn Wittrock, Corey Stoll, Sophie Okonedo and Vincent D’Onofrio.
