
Hold on to your spaceships, people! Candyman director Nia DaCosta is set to direct Captain Marvel 2, according to Deadline!
If everything comes to fruition, DaCosta will be the first Black woman to direct a Marvel film. This is a huge step in the right direction for both Disney and Marvel in the diversity department. She assumes the new role from Anna Bodn and Ryan Fleck. There seems to a trend of Marvel changing director’s for the second film in the individual franchises.
While the plot is still being kept under wraps for the sequel to 2019’s Captain Marvel, Brie Larson is set to return as Carol Danvers/Captain Marvel. WandaVision story editor Megan McDonnell wrote the script
The film is still in preproduction due to the Coronavirus pandemic. Captain Marvel 2 is still on track for a 2022 release.
