Happy Happy Joy Joy! 90’s classic controversial animated series Ren & Stimpy is coming back for fresh episodes at Comedy Central per The Hollywood Reporter.
The new series will be a “reimagined” version of the original Nickelodeon and Spike shows. It will be catered to the new generation with a brand new creative team. Nickelodeon Animation Studio is the vehicle behind the project.
ViacomCBS Entertainment, who owns Comedy Central, really seems to be pushing the adult animation genre. There are also Daria, Beavis and Butthead, and Clone High reboots on the table. Chris McCarthy, ViacomCBS Entertainment & Youth Group president, gave a few words on this very topic. He states “Ren & Stimpy joins our rapidly expanding roster of adult animation including South Park, Beavis and Butt-Head and Clone High as we continue to reimagine our treasure chest of beloved IP for new generations. e are excited to reinvent this iconic franchise with a new creative team and our partners at the Nickelodeon Animation Studio.”
No word on when the series will debut, but expect it to be just as wild as the original. Will you be watching the new Ren & Stimpy?
