Tenet Advance Ticket Sales Strong; Will You Watch in Theaters?

Tenet is the Warner Bros. film that kept getting pushed back, but never so far back that it couldn’t still premiere in 2020. Now it appears American audiences are ready for an escape into Christopher Nolan’s new world.

According to Deadline, advance ticket sales for Tenet are outpacing sales of Nolan’s last two movies, Interstellar and Dunkirk  in the United States, United Kingdom and Australia.

The question is, how reflective of the actual Box Office are the ticket sales. Here in Arizona, Harkins Theaters, one of the two major movie theater companies, is reopening for the first time on August 28. However, as Deadline points out entire states and major cities like New York and Los Angeles still have closed movie theaters.

If you live in a state where theaters are open will you go watch Tenet in the theater? Actors like Tom Cruise are encouraging audiences to return to theaters. He popped up at a British premiere and told everyone to go “back to the movies.”

The encouragement to return to the movies comes as COVID deaths have passed 180,000. Many Americans do not feel comfortable returning to large venues, like theaters, even with safety measures in place.

Tenet stars John David Washington, Robert Pattinson, Elizabeth Debicki, Kenneth Branagh, Michael Caine and Fiona Dourif.

Tenet hits theaters September 3.
