A new take on a science fiction drama is heading to TV soon. The X-Files animated comedy spinoff is in the works at Fox, per TVLine.
The X-Files: Albuquerque will tell the story of a group of misfit agents who investigate off the wall the X-Files cases. These cases are too absurd and silly for top agents Mulder (David Duchovny) and Scully (Gillian Anderson) to even consider. The Albuquerque team handles all the leftovers.
Chris Carter is the main executive producer. Rocky Russo and Jeremy Sosenko will write the pilot, and contribute as executive producers with Carter and Gabe Rotter. Bento Box the animation studio behind the project.
No word on when the animated series will premiere. The last iteration of The X-Files was the 2016 2 season reboot on Fox.
