Is a major Hollywood A-list actor about to Wish Upon A Star? Tom Hanks is in negotiations to portray Geppetto in Disney’s new live action Pinocchio, according to Deadline.
The deal is currently in the early stages, but everything is pointing in the right direction. Hanks is good friends with the film’s director Robert Zemeckis. The two have worked on Forrest Gump, Cast Away and The Polar Express. Word around the coffee table is that Hanks contacted Disney first about the role after reading the script.
It’s not secret Disney has shown interest in the past of Hanks becoming Geppetto. With any luck and the right number, he will be the father of the puppet who wants to transform into a real boy.
Zemeckis is pulling double duty and writing the film as well with Chris Weitz. The duo is producing the film along with Andrew Miano.
Hanks latest film, Greyhound, was set to hit theaters earlier in the year, before coronavirus caused it’s premiere to be postponed. Apple acquired the rights and it premiered July 10 on Apple TV+.
