Every two years the Blizzard Entertainment faithful await the launch of the next World of Warcraft expansion. At BlizzCon in 2019 we learned the Horde and the Alliance’s next adventure would take us to the Shadowlands. And now we finally have a date!
World of Warcraft: Shadowlands will be available on the Battle.net launcher on October 26th or the next day, depending on where you live around the world.
The launch of Shadowlands comes days before the previously scheduled, but canceled due to COVID, BlizzCon 2020.
The announcement came during the Gamescom: Opening Night live stream, but the date wasn’t the only thing to excite WoW fans. We also got the first of four animated shorts in the series called Afterlives. There is one short for each of the four major Shadowlands’ covenants.
The first animated short centers around Uther’s arrival in the Shadowlands and at the Kyrian covenant.
“Uther the Lightbringer, Paladin of the Silver Hand, met an untimely demise … but his service is not done. When he passes into the afterlife, Devos – a Paragon of Bastion – takes Uther under her wing, only to learn that some mortal wounds run deeper than she could imagine.”
Blizzard has provided a preview of the Kyrian covenant, which is in Bastion.
