Daisy Ridley Drops Rey Kenobi Bombshell

Hold on to your lightsabers Star Wars fans! Daisy Ridley reveals during an interview on Jimmy Kimmel Live her Star Wars character Rey was almost a Kenobi!

Josh Gad is guest host of the night who was on the receiving end of the news! Ridley’s continues on expose Rey’s true lineage was actually a shifting topic in the film’s writers room. She states “At the beginning, there was toying with an Obi-Wan connection. There were different versions. Then, it really went to it was no one, and then it came to episode nine and J.J. [Abrams] pitched me the film and was like ‘Oh, yeah, Palpatine is granddaddy.“

Even Ridley had no idea who Rey’s relatives were until the last minute. “Then, two weeks later he was like, “Oh, we’re not sure”‘ So, it kept changing. So, then even as we were filming, I wasn’t sure what the answer was going to be.“

Well, this certainly explains the outcome in the final version of Star Wars: Rise of Skywalker. Somehow, Rey Palpatine won out against all other options.
