It’s about time Papa Joe gets a relevant story. The Flash showrunner Eric Wallace shares Joe West (Jesse L. Martin) will have a story on par with today’s society in Season 7, according to Entertainment Weekly.

Joe West is the captain of the police force in Central City. It makes sense for him to have a story more in tune with what is happening with law enforcement in America. Wallace reveals “Joe’s story line this season is inspired by the societal changes happening in today’s world. Because with everything we’re all waking up to each day in 2020, I felt there was a great opportunity here — even within our fantastical, family-oriented show — to comment indirectly on truths folks could easily recognize. And do so in an entertaining way.

He continues to confirm Joe’s story will challenge the character in ways he never thought possible. In response to the challenge, Wallace states Joe “really rises up. He’s a person who says something and does something.
