The New Mutants Opens With $7 Million Box Office

It’s the little film that could at this point! The New Mutants finally hit theaters this weekend and hauls in $7 Million, per Variety.

The X-Men centric New Mutants is a film with an interesting track record. It’s original release date was back in 2018. Reshoots, a new character, a new story and 2 years later, it’s finally here.

Clearly with its box office numbers, there is still a demand to see the film. It is one of the first movies to debut fully in the theater since the Coronavirus pandemic changed the world. While the numbers are a little lower than Disney hoped, it is still a win considering the circumstances.

$7 Million is a great opening weekend especially since theaters are still closed in New York, Los Angeles, Seattle, and Washington D.C. The film’s worldwide box office came in at $9.9. Million. It’s a step in the right direction!
