One Disney Plus series is already making changes behind the scenes! Toby Haynes will now direct the first three episodes of the Rogue One series instead of Tony Gilroy, according to Deadline!

It seems COVID-19 travel issues is to blame for Gilroy’s departure from directing. The series is set to begin pre-production overseas in the United Kingdom next month. Gilroy lives in New York City, and ultimately could not make the trip.

In Gilroy’s place, Toby Haynes will occupy the director’s chair. Haynes most recent credits include Netflix’s Black Mirror, HBO Brexit, and Amazon’s upcoming Utopia. Additionally, Haynes currently resides in the U.K., so it makes travel much easier. Apparently, Disney interest in Haynes has been very high for some time.

While Gilroy is no longer directing, he will continue to serve as showrunner and executive producer.  The series stars Diego Luna, Adria Arjona, Stellan Skarsgard, Kyle Soller, and Alan Tudyk.
