Bad news for Stumptown fans!
According to Deadline, the ABC series starring Cobie Smulders has been canceled even though the alphabet network renewed it for a second season earlier this year. The reason? The pandemic.
Reportedly, the delay in production made it impossible for the show to be ready for a fall premiere and it was an expensive series to produce.
“As a high-end drama, Stumptown already was among the most expensive second-year broadcast TV scripted series. Additionally, with elaborate stunts, extensive location shoots and romance, Stumptown is the type of series most impacted by COVID-related restrictions, limiting the kind of scenes the show could do and leading to significant budget increases.”
Stumptown is based on a graphic novel and is produced by ABC Signature. There may be a slim chance the production company finds a new home for the series on a streaming platform, but given the complications COVID creates it may be a while before we learn anything more.
Will you miss Stumptown? If the producers could find it a new home would you like to see it land on another network or a streaming service?
