X-Men Dark Phoenix actress Jessica Chastain has been cast as Tammy Wynette in the upcoming miniseries George & Tammy, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Originally planned as a feature film, George & Tammy will air be exclusive to Specturm for nine months before airing on the Paramount Network and CBS All Access.
The limited series is based on the book, The Three of Us: Growing Up with Tammy and George that is written by their daughter Georgette Jones. It will follow the country music icons’ relationship.
A premiere date has not been announced.
The two-time Oscar nominated actress has starred or appeared in such films as X-Men: Dark Phoenix, Dark Shadows, Texas Killing Fields, Zero Dark Thirty and The Huntsman: Winter’s War. In 2012 she was nominated for a Best Supporting Actress Oscar for her work in The Help. The next year she received a Best Actress Oscar nomination for Zero Dark Thirty.
