Yara Shahidi Cast as Tinker Bell in Live Action Peter Pan

Dreams do come true! Yara Shahidi joins Disney’s live action Peter Pan and Wendy as Tinker Bell, according to Deadline.

Tinker Bell is a pivotal role in the film. She’s almost like Peter Pan’s guardian angel. Tink is a tiny clumsy magical fairy, but serves her purpose well. Importantly, Shahidi is the first person of color to play Tinker Bell. She currently stars on Freeform’s Grown-Ish!

Shahidi joins Jude Law, Alexander Molony, and Ever Anderson as main characters in the cast. David Lowery serves as director and co-writer of the script. Toby Halbrooks is his writing partner for the film. Jim Whitaker is the producer.

Disney’s plan is for the film to make a traditional big theatrical release. There is no tentative date for the movie at this time.
